I think the Transport Authority – Transport Division has now taken over as the worst government-established authority. It demonstrates utter incompetence in handling not only major works but also small temporary arrangements. Clear proof of this has been shown in these carnival days.

1) The park and ride transport was diverted from Castille Place to Floriana first next to MCP car park and then next to Independence monument with all the problems already associated with the bus terminus. I would understand this would happen during carnival activities but why at a time when no such activities are being held such as between 7 and 9 a.m.?

2) On Carnival Sunday traffic coming from Marsa and going to Sliema was stopped from proceeding immediately after exiting the flyover at Blata l-Bajda and turned back through the traffic lights towards Blata l Bajda, thus causing traffic jams because of the traffic lights.

3) The start of works on the new bus terminus and on the pavements around Christ the King monument in the knowledge that carnival was being held.

I think the planners are entitled to a bonus on inefficiency in their next pay review.
