Britain’s David Haye says he expects to face fellow world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko in a unification bout, but could fight Klitschko’s sibling Vitali if injury rules the Ukrainian out.
WBA champion Haye is set to face IBF and WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko on June 25 or July 2, most likely in Germany.
But with Wladimir currently recovering from abdominal injury which forced him out of the fight with Dereck Chisora, Haye could instead fight WBC champion Vitali if the problem persists.
“I don’t expect that,” Haye said.
“With me, he’s going to take his training very seriously, he’s going to make sure that there’s going to be no injuries that can affect this fight.”
He added: “And if there is any problem, then his brother’s going to jump in.”
