Corinthia to open SmartCity bistro
The Corinthia is to open a bistro and café at SmartCity Malta, offering healthy, high quality food, a variety of platters, and leisurely dining.
SmartCity said the concept will be 'the first of its kind' in Malta that will offer a combination of international and Mediterranean cuisines, catering for SmartCity Malta workers, as well as for the general public.
It did not say when the outlet will open.

Well, part of the master plan of SmartCity, apart from office space, there are going to be also a hotel, residential areas, entertainment facilities, shops and public parks. In other words a CITY. But most of the build up area is to be allocated to office space.

Why not? Portomaso has been very successful and the restaurants, particularly at weekends are always full and It's also in a fabulous location.

Because it had been marketed as a technical centre for businesses and not an entertainment area.... I fear it was just a guise for property speculation. I hope Im wrong!

Well, a mixed development would be ideal with both business and residential units. That would mean there is activity and life there at the weekends and others could also enjoy the area even thought they don't live or work there. So, if they develeop residential units, what's not to like? A distinct advantage for everyone.
However, there are Maltese who are jealous of developments like Portomaso. It's a real shame these people have this kind of attitude because it all goes to ongoing improvement of the quality of life for everyone on the islands. As soon as standards are improved in one area, other areas have to raise their game in order to attract people. It's a win-win for everyone but it does take time. Unfortunately there are still those in Malta who hate others doing well and can't be bothered to put in the effort to improve themselves.
You can see this along the Sliema seafront where certain Maltese from outside the area are intent on coming along and vandalising certain aspects of the area. A few weeks ago, a number of the rubbish bins along the front were uprooted and thrown onto the sea-side rocks.

The place is a fortress and need special pass to enter how can anyone with the right mindset open a bistro and cafe. Last time I went to give a service to the company, I had to leave cause I had no pass to enter. The place is just a 4 storey building without underlying garage, catering one office, Smart City office off course.
Technical centre? Mediterranean couisine? I suggest that the outlet will do very well selling white elephants.
