Blood bank urgent public appeal for donors

Appeals for blood types O positive and A negative were made by the Blood Transfusion Centre yesterday. Even though several donors turned up after a public appeal was made in the morning, the situation deteriorated, centre spokesman Tony Micallef said.

Even though several donors turned up after a public appeal was made in the morning, the situation deteriorated, centre spokesman Tony Micallef said. “Unless our reserves increase by tomorrow morning (today), some patients may not be given blood and some operations may have to be postponed,” he said.

Blood donations can be made at the centre opposite St Luke’s Hospital in Guardamangia between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Donors are requested to take their identity card with them.
