The causes and consequences of divorce: national differences (2)

Divorce yes, divorce no, divorce maybe... and so it goes on and on...
The arguments (yes, that’s what we have in this country, arguments; we’re incapable of holding a civilised discussion) are getting more virulent and politicians on both sides doing some U-turns, and even a few somersaults, when it suites them.
The Church, apart from a few letters in the press here and there, hasn’t fired any big guns yet knowing that another Interdiction is worse than useless, unless they shut down the internet like the fundamentalists tried to do and it backfired on them as can be seen in the Arab world.
And also, this kerfuffle about divorce has been astutely beneficial in that people are not talking about paedophiles in the Church now... they have divorce to worry about. A very cunning plan Baldrick, eh?
A gentle reminder of that poster in Żebbuġ about God being against divorce. Well, God is definitely against paedophiles, now isn’t He? I would venture that God is also against those who burnt people at the stake during the Inquisition, all in the name of God, of course. So let’s have some more posters please!
Here’s a little ditty dedicated to all those who are not against divorce per se but say they are all for lifetime marriages, even though they wouldn’t touch it with a bargepole, or are not allowed to get married.
“King Solomon and King David,
Led merry, merry lives
With very many concubines
And many, many wives!
But when old age came creeping in,
With its many, many qualms,
King Solomon wrote the Proverbs,
And King David wrote the Psalms!! ...(Anon)”
And so say all of us, for they were jolly good fellows... And so say all of us...
