Real Madrid's Brazilian international Kaka will be sidelined for around two weeks after he again injured his left knee the Spanish club said.

The 28-year-old midfielder underwent surgery on his left knee on August 5 and only returned to training in December.

He felt pain in his left knee during Real's goalless draw against Deportivo Coruna on February 26 and doctors later diagnosed him with iliotibial band syndrome, a common knee injury suffered by joggers, a club statement said.

"Treatment includes fitness work in the gymnasium and on the pitch, as well as complementary physiotherapy. The player is expected to miss 15 days and his progress will be monitored," it added.

The injury means Kaka will miss Real's league match at home against Hercules as well as next week's Champions League last-16 second leg against Lyon.

Earlier this month Real coach Jose Mourinho said he was putting no pressure on the former AC Milan player to return to form after his knee surgery in August.

"He is going through a natural process and we must continue to support him. He is a fantastic guy and a great player. We must be patient and allow him to work with no pressure. I don't put any pressure on him," Mourinho said.
