Children’s Commissioner Helen D’Amato, recently visited the children who are currently patients at Mater Dei Hospital for a Carnival celebration.

Activities were organised by a group of 50 students from Mcast studying courses at the Institute of Community Services. The students were accompanied by their lecturers.

Dressed up as cartoon characters, the students visited the children in their wards and took part in activities with them, including balloon-shaping, face-painting, mask-making, story-telling and a puppet show.

Ms D’Amato spoke to the children and explained that carnival has been celebrated for many years and is part of Maltese history and culture.

Ġuġinu l-iljunċinu, the mascot of the Office of the Commissioner for Children, also joined the activities.
