Sliema Wanderers and MIDI have just reached an agreement on a sponsorship deal for the Premier League club that spreads over the duration of 12 months. MIDI, a private investor, were the brains behind the project at Tigne Point that incorporates the Tigne Sports Complex, home of the Blues.
The complex, which has just been officially inaugurated, ac-commodates a full-size football pitch, a fully-equipped gym, conference hall, dressing rooms, nursery quarters and indoor multi-purpose pitches that can house various other sport.
The complex also boasts a pool therapy and wellness area that will surely be a favourite hub for fitness fans and athletes alike.
Among the notable personalities for the official opening of the complex were Steve Abela, Sliema Wanderers FC president, and Ben Muscat, chief executive officer at MIDI plc.
Abela augured that the MIDI Consortium-Sliema partnership will thrive for more years.
“I believe this sponsorship comes naturally as our glorious club began operating in this sports complex,” he said.
“We welcome MIDI within our family for a further year after ten long years to complete this im-pressive complex and we augur many more to come following this agreement.”
The wait for the project to be completed was rather long but MIDI reckon it was worth the while.
“These facilities have been coming for a number of years, probably longer than anyone anticipated but, surely, at the end of it SWFC now have one of the best sporting complexes in Malta, not just football but potentially for other sport as well,” Muscat said.
“We are proud to be associated with this football club, so steeped with honours and proud traditions. We expect these facilities to produce future generations of footballers and offer an opportunity for the wider Sliema community to avail itself of the excellent facilities to be found at this complex.”
