Canadian manufacturer Bombardier announced a record order for up to 120 of its Global business jets from NetJets, in a deal worth up to €4.7 billion.
The firm order for 50 jets with options for an additional 70 aircraft is “the largest business aircraft sale in the company’s history”, Bombardier said in a statement.
The sale of 30 Global 5000 Vision and Global Express XRS Vision aircraft and 20 Global 7000 and Global 8000 jets – which are scheduled to be delivered starting in late 2012 and 2017, respectively – is valued at $2 billion.
NetJets, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, operates a fleet of business jets that are made available on a few hours’ notice to individuals and companies who buy a share of the business.
“The Global aircraft family is ideally suited to our owners’ needs for range, reliability, interior comfort and operating efficiency,” NetJets president Jordan Hansell said.
Bombardier, the third largest aircraft manufacturer in the world behind Airbus and Boeing, launched the new Global 7000 and 8000 series jets last year.
