Floriana chalked up their second successive win after they saw off a poor Hamrun Spartans side 2-0 at the National Stadium this afternoon.
Daniel Nwoke was the protagonist in the Greens’ victory yesterday as the Nigerian scored both goals that put the team temporarily in second place in the standings.
The Nigerian was on the mark as early as the fifth minute when from a Christian Cassar free-kick, Hamrun defender Roderick Fenech made a hash of his attempt to clear the ball with Nwoke on hand to fire the ball home.
Hamrun tried to regroup but their efforts were all but killed off byanother horrendous piece of defending. In fact on 56 minutes Fenech, inexplicably lost his balance when in control of the ball and that paved the way to Nwoke slid the ball past the onrushing Omar Borg, the Hamrun goalkeeper.
Daniel Nwoke was voted as the BOV Player of the Match.
