Orange route buses give right of way to colourful King Carnival

Carnival festivities started yesterday in Valletta, where the orange buses made way for the even more colourful, floats and costumes in the City Gate terminus.
Activities continue today with a defilè in Valletta between 4 and 8 p.m. and dancing competition between 5 and 9 p.m.
On Sunday, there will be the grand defilè in Valletta and St Anne Street, Floriana, and the grand carnival show near the Tritons Fountain, at City Gate between 2 and 5.30 p.m.
St Anne Street will be closed to traffic for a few hours tomorrow and Tuesday for the carnival celebrations. New traffic plans will be in use on both days.
St Anne Street will be closed to traffic tomorrow between 1 and 10 p.m. while on Tuesday it will be closed between 3 and 11 p.m. Commuters can drive into Valletta through the Waterfront.
Between 5.30 a.m. and 6 p.m., buses will disembark passengers at Sarria Road, in Floriana and board others wanting to leave Valletta and take them to the temporary terminus set up at the park-and-ride site in Blata l-Bajda.
Between 6 and 11 p.m., buses will operate to and from their destinations to the park-and-ride area and minivans will ferry passengers between the temporary terminus and Sarria Road.
Buses from the south will enter the park-and-ride site from National Road, Blata l-Bajda from near the traffic lights while those coming from the north will pass through Independence Road under the flyover.
