Obituary

BUHAGIAR. On March 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, MARIA of Attard, aged 90, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Joe and his wife Doris, Anna and her husband Nello, Rose and her partner John, Maria and her husband Joe and their sons Matthew and Jonathan, Martin and his wife Frida, Rita and her husband Joe and their daughters Rebecca, Gabriella and Maria and Josephine and her children Nicholas, Roberta and Joseph, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for St Mary’s parish church, Attard, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment at Attard cemetery. The family regret they cannot receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

DESIRA. On March 2, at Boffa Hospital, CARMENA of Żejtun, aged 79, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Celestino, her children Lorry and his wife Rena, Joyce and her husband Spiro, Charlie and his wife Doris, Rose and her husband Charlie, Gaetano and his wife Marisa, Michael, Frances and her husband John, MaryGrace and her husband David, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sisters and brother, Mary, Angelo and Josephine, in-laws and their respective families, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3 p.m. for St Catherine parish church, Żejtun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at St Gregory Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Nazareth, Żejtun, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

FALZON. On March 2, at Mater Dei Hospital, GIUSEPPE MARIA of Rabat, residing at Mġarr, widower of Giovanna, née Muscat, aged 97, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his children Joseph and Josephine, Rose and Nazzareno Vella, Margaret and Victor Camilleri, Maria Dolores and Edward Kirby, Paolina and Alberto Augugliaro, James and Marty and Mary Therese Bath, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his brothers Sam, residing in USA, and Paul, their spouses, and Frank, his brother-in-law Alexander Muscat, many relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 2.15 p.m. for Mġarr parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment at Mġarr cemetery. Donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Ħamrun, will be greatly appreciated. The family appreciate the care given by the doctors and staff at M3 and M5, Mater Dei Hospital, the MMDNA, and Grace Attard, his carer. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. May our Lord grant him eternal rest.

PULIS. On March 2, at Villa Messina, Rabat, HELEN, née Agius, widow of Oscar, aged 87, went to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Antoinette and her husband Ray Bajada, Norman of UK, Louis and his wife Tonya, George and his wife Anna, Isabelle and her husband Mario Mercieca, her grandchildren Karl, Evania, Stephan, Trevor, Simon, Loui, Kirsten, Alan, Mark and Clyde, her great-grandchildren Martin, Helenia and Julia, her brothers Joseph and Lino, her sister Dorothy, other relatives and friends. Mass praesente cadavere will be celebrated today at 2 p.m. at Gżira parish church, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery.

Anniversary celebration

Nikolaus Schneider, head of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany, will in Malta between today and Tuesday in connection with the 20th anniversary of the founding of Andreas Gemeinde Malta.

During his visit, he will meet representatives of the Catholic Church and other churches, visit the Marsa open centre for refugees and meet executives of German companies based in Malta.

Pharmacy symposium

The Pharmacy Department will hold the annual pharmacy symposium between Monday and March 1. The opening ceremony starts at 8.30 a.m. at the Aula Magna, Valletta, followed by an academic evening on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. at Mater Dei Hospital, presided over by University Rector Juanito Camilleri.

Meeting on bullying

The Tarxien local council will hold an information meeting about bullying in collaboration with Sedqa on March 9 at 6.30 p.m. at Dar Tal-Kejka, Xintill Street, Tarxien.

Prayer meeting

The Moviment Madonna tal-Konsagrazzjoni committee will be holding a prayer meeting at Girgenti, Siġġiewi on Sunday at 4 p.m.
