Two men charged with drug importing cannabis were this morning remanded in custody.

The police had found 4.5 kilos of cocaine in a Peugeot 406 that arrived on a ship last Monday. The car had started the journey from the UK and had been imported by Paschalino Cefai, 31, of Zebbug, Gozo and George Frendo, 45, of Zurrieq.

This morning they pleaded not guilty to conspiring to import and importing cocaine.

Mr Cefai also pleaded not guilty to conspiring to traffic and trafficking cannabis in November, importing the drug and having it in his possession in circumstances which denoted it was not for his personal use. He was also charged with relapsing.

Mr Frendo pleaded not guilty to the being in possession of cannabis.
