Ryan Fenech will play no part in Saturday’s showdown between Valletta and Birkirkara after he received a one-match ban yesterday.
The 24-year-old midfielder has been suspended after collecting his fourth booking in the one-all draw with Marsaxlokk.
It must have been a case of mixed emotions for Fenech on Sunday as his joy at scoring a last-gasp equaliser for the leaders was tempered by the knowledge that his yellow card during the same game had ruled him out of the much-awaited clash with the champions.
In all, six Premier League players were handed a one-match ban yesterday.
Qormi will be without two midfielders for their next game, against Hibernians, after captain Joseph Farrugia and Keith Fenech were sanctioned for four yellow cards.
Midfielder Florent Raimy will miss Marsaxlokk’s meeting with Tarxien tomorrow after his late red card in the 1-1 draw with Valletta cost him a one-match ban.
Ħamrun defender Jovan Vukanic and Ryan Grech, of Vittoriosa, were also banned one match for four yellow cards.
