Libyan ambassador meets minister

Video: Paul Spiteri Lucas

The Libyan ambassador Saadun Suayeh, this afternoon had a meeting with Foreign Minister Tonio Borg at the Foreign Ministry.

He refused to comment afterwards, saying it was "a private consultation on the current situation."

The ambassador this morning said he was staying on as Libyan ambassador after anti-Gaddafi protesters raised the post-independence Libyan flag on the embassy building. He said the embassy represented all the Libyan people.

The Libyan school at Ta' Giorni refused to replace the official Libyan flag while no flags were flying this afternoon at the mosque in Paola.

That story's been explained as a transhipment from Italy. Malta has no arms factories.

A clarification about Malta being on the list.

Malta does not have an arms industry. The arms listed on the list were actually weapons purchased by Libya from Italy. The shipment was done via the Malta freeport harbour like most of other shipments done from Italy to Libya.

Malta itself did not sell any weapons to Libya or any other country.

I wish all goes well and new leaders take place in Africa and in countries which are undergoing Dictatorship. it's unfair and hope democracy wins. this is a clear example what will happens when a goverment leads for more than 25 years. may Maltese people keep this image in the next election. for we also need a change.
