Diane Borg has shown encouraging early-season form so far this year in 60m races.

She won all three winter competitions at Marsa, posting the best times of 7.64sec (wind-assisted) and 7.71sec. The latter time equalled the Minimum Qualifying Standard (MQS) set by Athletics Malta for participation at the European indoor championships in Paris, this weekend.

As part of her build-up for the indoors, and with the assistance of Athletics Malta and the Maltese Olympic Committee’s Centre of Excellence, Borg recently participated in the first Showtime Super Series at Lee Valley, London.

Borg qualified for the final with a time of 7.74sec and went on to better her own seasonal best to finish a close third overall in 7.69sec, clocking yet again the fastest legal time of the year.

The first two sprinters home at Lee Valley recorded times of 7.67sec and 7.68sec respectively.

Borg is currently in her final year of studies at the University of Malta. In London, she was host of twin sisters Martina and Fran-cesca Xuereb, who are studying and training in the UK.
