A play which portrays the life of a group of people who live in a lodging house and who aren’t the brightest tools in the shed will be staged at the Manoel Theatre, Valletta, next month.

Talenti stage company will stage Il-Kerrejja by Guzè Chetcuti on March 25, 26 and 27.

The dramatist has created a microcosm where the lodge houses characters who represent the poor, the violent, the jealous and the quarrelsome as well as the loving, kind, respectful and good-mannered.

Through this play, Chetcuti wants to show the need for education in order to lift people out of their ignorance and egoism.

The play was originally produced in February 1994.

It is being staged again on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of Chetcuti’s death.

The cast of Il-Kerrejja stars Michael Tabone, Ninette Micallef, Mary Rose Mallia, Moira Muscat, Michelle Zerafa, Alan Fenech, Michael Sciortino, Marianne Muscat, Philip Mizzi, Gwido Fenech, Lilian Pace, Manuel Cutajar, Tony Mizzi and Marco Bartolo.

Mario Micallef directs.
