The Sunday Monti (open market) hawkers showed up for the first time at their new site in Blata l-Bajda this morning but did not set up their stalls.

They said that there were more hawkers than there were spaces allocated for them. Others said the space allowed to them was too small.

Following some arguments, they decided to drive off.

This was the third Sunday without the open market since the hawkers were moved from St James Ditch, where works are in progress on a new bus terminus.
