The news (The Sunday Times, February 20) that Spanish students will again be given grants by their government to study English in Malta should be welcomed by our tourist industry, particularly hotels and guest accommodation and thelanguage schools.

However, as a resident in one of the areas invaded by foreign students in summer, I would appreciate it if the Spanish embassy and the English language schools were to inform these students beforehand about existing laws in Malta, regarding rowdy behaviour in the late hours of the evening and early hours of the morning, especially in residential areas.

This would surely be a good start for relations between students and residents in the summer.
