Mrs Gonzi (centre) trying out the Numicon approach.

A parent Numicon workshop was recently organised by Inspire at San Andrea School, L-Imselliet, one of the two schools in Malta using Numicon as a whole-class approach.

The workshop was delivered by Rosette Gatt, an accredited Numicon trainer at Inspire. Present for the event was the Prime Minister’s wife, Kate Gonzi.

These workshops are designed to help educators and parents learn more about how structured imagery helps students understand Maths concepts more effectively.

Commenting on the workshop, Ms Gonzi said it helped her realise children may have a different way of understanding concepts linked to mathematics, and rather than replacing the current system used in mainstream schools, Numicon enhances it.

For more information or to attend one of these workshops contact Ms Gatt on rosette.gatt@inspire.org.mt or call 2167 3706.
