Prof. Peter Vassallo, professor of English Literature in the University’s Department of English and acting head of department, was recently elected Fellow of the prestigious English Association (www.le.ac.uk/engassoc) for his distinguished service to English literature.
The association is the oldest established association in the UK for those interested in English at all levels, from primary to higher education. It has over 350 members, all academics who have made an outstanding contribution to English studies.
Some of the association’s eminent members are Catherine Belsey (Cardiff) ; Marina Warner (Essex); John Carey (Oxford); David Crystal; Chris Baldick (London); Nicholas Roe (St Andrew’s); Patricia Waugh (Durham) and David Holbrook (Cambridge).
