I cannot agree more with what Frans H. Said wrote in his letter A Repeated Insult To Pope Paul V (February 21).

Now that the feast of St Paul’s Shipwreck has been celebrated we again noticed that in the second reading of the Mass that part of the Act of The Apostles relating to St Publius, the head of the Maltese and Malta’s first saint, was again left out – naturally again the fault of Malta’s ecclesiastical authorities.

How right was St Ġorġ Preca who used to venerate St Publius as the first Maltese saint when he used to say that the Maltese did not give this saint, a patron of Malta, the respect due to him.
