I felt the need to write on behalf of the residents of Msida and also on behalf of the thousands of motorists and passengers who pass daily through this main road which falls under the responsibility of Transport Malta. As is clearly visible, the road infrastructure is lacking the appropriate attention and also needs urgent maintenance.
For the past few years, the Msida local council has been complaining that the trees in this road are a serious danger to those who use this main traffic artery. Way back in 2007, Transport Malta, in those days operating under the name of ADT, wrote to our local council that ADT had obtained the necessary permits to remove these dangerous trees (indirectly acknowledging that these were posing a serious danger).
Despite the fact that the local council has continued to complain about the current state of affairs, including a recent reminder to the responsible minister in 2011, no action was taken to find a remedy to this situation.
This picture, taken on Wednesday, shows the danger that these trees cause.
One hopes that we are not waiting for an accident or possibly a fatality to find a solution to this sorry state of affairs.
