Israel is to allow 300 Palestinians in unrest-swept Libya to return to the Palestinian territories as a humanitarian gesture, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said late on Wednesday.

"I have responded to a personal request from (Palestinian) president Mahmud Abbas and have on humanitarian terms authorised about 300 Palestinians in Libya to come to the Palestinian Authority's territories," he said on public radio
