Rock-cut path in Dwejra
The rock-cut path at Dwejra is located on the cliff edge overlooking the inland sea from the open sea, extending for a distance of 400 metres. Its southern end is located just behind St Anne’s chapel at Dwejra and continues northwards along the ridge.
The path provides a relatively easy route over the steep and difficult terrain. It is relatively shallow, not deeper than 30 centimetres while in areas where the terrain is relatively flat, the path is so shallow as to be hardly discernable.
In the areas were a steep incline is present, steps have been cut into the path to facilitate the climb.
Mepa scheduled the rock-cut path as a Class B national monument as per Government notice 37 dated January 18.
