A 71-year-old Gozitan is in a critical condition after he hit his head in a fall when helping a relative carry out some works in Liberat Grech Street, Xaghra.

The police said the man was initially taken to the Gozo General Hospital but was moved to Mater Dei because of his condition.

The accident happened at around 9.30 a.m.

An inquiry is being held.
