Malta airport ranked first across Europe
Malta’s airport was ranked the top airport in Europe in a passenger survey on service quality carried out last year.
Malta International Airport CEO Julian Jaeger welcomed the satisfactory result that placed the country’s airport among the top performing ones in the world.
The international Airport Service Quality passenger survey is a leading industry benchmarking tool carried out in 154 airports worldwide and surveying 300,000 passengers.
It is designed to help participating airports measure their improvement year on year, as well as to benchmark against their peers worldwide, within their region and in the same category.
Mr Jaeger said while one had to admit that in surveys such as the ASQ, small airports were at an advantage, one could not diminish the great feat achieved by MIA in placing first across all airport categories in Europe. This follows the fourth place achieved in 2009.

I have to say, after a twenty-five year absence from Malta, i was really impressed by the 'new" airport at Luqa and it's facilities. The only comment I would make is that upon arrival in Malta, tourists should be told that there are so many great shops in the departure wing, it would behoove them to save some time and money for these facilities! I was taken by surprise and would have spent even more money there if I had some foresight into the excellent merchandice available there, and not all just the usual "touristy" souvenirs either. A belated congratulations to a much improved tourist destination that keeps on getting better.

I must admit I bought some lovely wines and delicacies such as goat's cheese and olive dips when I was in the departure area last July.
