German award for Playmobil’s CEO

Helga Ellul, CEO of Playmobil and president of the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, has been awarded the German Officers’ Cross of the Order of Merit.

The decoration was presented to her by German Ambassador Bernd Braun on behalf of the President of the Federal Republic.

The ambassador underlined the “vital role” Ms Ellul played in developing and strengthening German-Maltese relations.

German-born Mrs Ellul has been a resident of Malta for more than three decades. In 1976 she was appointed director of Playmobil Malta Ltd and has held the position for 35 years, turning the company into one of the most successful ones on the island.

With a workforce of over 900, Playmobil Malta is a major employer in Malta.

Ms Ellul is involved in various activities in the local business community. She is a governor at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology and a member of the board of Malta Enterprise. Very recently she was appointed on the policy board at the Office of the Prime Minister.

The Nationalist Party issued a statement congratulating Ms Ellul on her award.
