Former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff is being discharged from hospital today after having been admitted four days ago suffering from a deterioration of his level of consciousness.
"Investigations including a CT scan of the brain did not show any new changes. His condition is now stable and he is fit to be sent home," a hospital spokesman said.
Mr Mintoff, 94, has been found to be suffering from numerous conditions common in the elderly including congestive heart failure, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, and hypertension. Furthermore he is susceptible to recurrent chest infections.
All these conditions are chronic and have resulted in repeated hospital admissions.
