Italian Serie B1 side ASD Fiaccola, with Malta champion Daniel Bajada in their ranks, bounced back from a 5-1 drubbing to runaway leaders Tennistavolo Norbello a fortnight ago when they beat ACSD Sant’Espedito Napoli 5-3 in another league match, played at Castellana Grotte, last weekend.

Victory saw Fiaccola make amends for the upset to the same Napoli team in the first round with the same scoreline.

Bajada, now ranked no.256, got off to a great start beating no.211 Mattia Galdieri 3-0.

Boosted by such an emphatic win, the Maltese youngster went on to crush no.855 Giovanni Illibato 3-0 before succumbing in his third match against Sant’Espedito to a superior Concetto Testiera, ranked no.133, 3-0.

This fifth win of the season puts Fiaccola in third position prior to their next encounter, on Saturday, against Tauromenion Taormina, away from home.

In the first round, Bajada’s side beat Taormina 5-2.
