Parliament will be debating the opposition’s energy motion tomorrow morning.

The motion, presented by opposition energy spokesman Joe Mizzi last month, urges the government to give an energy benefit bonus to everyone in view of the latest fuel and gas price increases in the same way as it had found the money to raise the salaries of its ministers.

It also calls on the Malta Resources Authority to publish its workings on gas prices and, in the interests of consumers, review its workings on price calculation.

Furthermore, it urges the government, constituted bodies and other stakeholders to hold talks on price stability in order to enable businesses and families plan their budgets.

Finally, the motion proposes the setting up of a Parliamentary Select Committee to investigate the gas privatisation process and decisions which affect prices.

During the same sitting, members will also vote on two other opposition motions: one providing measures to guarantee safe crossing of Mrieħel Bypass by residents of Tal-Blat, Qormi; and the other to provide for the representation of Forum Unions Maltin on the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD).
