Soprano Miriam Gauci recently received the Malta Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce’s (MSAMC) 2010 Gold Medal.

The honour was presented to her by President George Abela during a ceremony held at the Casino Maltese, Valletta.

The award was given in recognition of Ms Gauci’s outstanding career in the international field of operatic music.

Prof. Michael Laus spoke about Ms Gauci’s years of hard work before she ventured on the operatic stage. Excerpts from Ms Gauci’s performances were also shown on video. Fr Peter Serracino Inglott also gave a presentation on the Maltese soprano’s achievements.

MSAMC president JosephMifsud outlined the society’s mission since its foundation in 1852.
