A Labour councillor has objected to the new site proposed to serve as offices for the St Paul’s Bay council, saying it is completely cut off from the hub of the village.

The local council wants to relocate to a site which holds a car showroom permit on St Paul Street, corner with Triq it-Tonn.

However, Raymond Tabone said his fellow Labour councillors, together with the party representative within the Administrative Committee of Burmarrad and the Local Committee, objected to the new application submitted to the Planning Authority.

The offices, he said, would also be situated on a busy road which lacked an adequate pavement and parking space.

The site, he added, should be close to the health centre, banks and the church, making it more accessible to elderly and disabled people.
