The Attard family of Għarb has received theHeart of Gold Award, sponsored by the Gozo Cana Movement for the past 40 years.
The award is presented to a family who would have passed through difficult times.
The Attard family had to spend five years in the UK due to their son John Paul’s illness, with the consequence that his father lost his job.
His sister Lizanne had to donate blood to her brother John Paul.
Yet, despite their suffering, including financial difficulties, the Attard family always showed courage and remained united.
John Paul is now better and attends the seminary school.
The award was presented byPresident George Abela during an evening held on February 5 at the Cana Movement headquarters inVictoria.
The evening included excerpts from musical works by Chorus Urbanus.
Present were Gozo Bishop Mario Grech and Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono.
