Two high-ranking members from the Liverpool Supporters Club (LSC) Malta committee were recently in England for meetings with officials from the football club from Anfield.
Charles Farrugia, chairman, and James Vella, secretary, attended the meetings, spread over the duration of a week, now a fixed agenda on both sides’ annual calendar. In fact, the purpose behind these activities is to strengthen relationships and im-prove the already-existing good ties between the two parties.
Farrugia and Vella held meetings with influential personnel at Liverpool FC, the likes of Scott Richardson (head of Customer Relationship Management), Suzanne Cohen (Membership Manager), Bill Bygroves (Community Manager), Ian Sylvester (Liverpool FC secretary), John Owens (Youth Academy manager), Sam-my Lee (assistant manager) and Steve Turner (head of the International Football Academy).
In a statement, Farrugia and Vella confirmed that the first steps to have Liverpool’s International Football Academy visiting the Maltese islands are already un-derway, with a tentative target date set for November this year.
The aim of the academy is to spread Liverpool’s base in other parts of the world and to enhance their image and provide training experience to young footballers of different age groups by professional coaches.
Malta has the opportunity to become only the fourth country to benefit from the Liverpool academy initiatives after Norway, Ireland and Greece have already entered in partnership with the Merseyside club.
