Daniel Bogdanovic was on the mark for Sheffield United yesterday after opening the score from a penalty in a Championship match against Millwall at Bramall Lane.

Bogdanovic was not 100 per cent fit and skipped the Malta friendly against Switzerland in midweek. Against Millwall, he came on as a 67th-minute substitute for Ched Evans and immediately left his mark when he won a penalty after a foul by Millwall’s Paul Robinson.

The Malta striker fired the spot-kick past keeper David Forde but the relegation-troubed Blades were unable to preserve their lead and conceded a last-minute equaliser through Kevin Lisbie.

Victory would have been United’s first this year.

Millwall manager Kenny Jackett questioned the penalty decision.

“The one key decision was the penalty decision but the referee was backed up by his linesman,” he said.
