BRAY – On February 10, FRANCES nèe Baldacchino, widow of Alfred, residing in Birkirkara, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital, aged 72, surrounded by her loving family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her daughter Marisa, her siblings and their respective families, her in-laws and their respective families, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. CUTAJAR – On February 10, GIOVANNA, of Siġġiewi, widow of Nicholas, aged 89, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved children Rev. FOUNTAIN – JOSEPH PAUL, aged 75, at home, passed away peacefully to meet the Risen Lord, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. Media influence

A public lecture titled How Media Make Up Your Mind will discuss how the mass media influence what families and individuals think.

The lecture, organised by the University’s Faculty of Education together with Home Economists in Action, will be delivered by Elizabeth Goldsmith from the Florida State University and Gale Workman from the Florida A&M University.

It will be held on February 17 between 6 and 7.30 p.m. at the National Curriculum Centre, Ħamrun.

Spiritual direction

The Centre of Ignatian Spirituality together with the Institute of Pastoral Formation will be holding a three-year course in Maltese for the religious, clergy and laity who wish to deepen their spiritual life and or commit themselves in giving and guiding retreats and in spiritual direction.

Prayers for peace

An evening of prayer for peace and the new evangelisation of the world will be held at the basement chapel of Sarria Church, Floriana, on Wednesday at 5.15 p.m. The event is being organised by the International Movement of Prayer Blessed Pope John XXIII.

Billiard tournament
