Trailer catches fire

No one was injured when the four rear wheels on one side of a container trailer caught fire on the Regional Road in Kappara at about 11.30 a.m. yesterday.

The container was slightly damaged by the fire which was extinguished by Civil Protection Department personnel. People on the scene said a loud bang was heard as one or more tyres exploded probably when the brakes were applied.

The lane where the fire broke out was closed to traffic resulting in a traffic jam.
