Melita TV problems resolved
Melita Cable this afternoon resolved technical problems which had prevented it from transmitting some TV channels on its system.
The problems were reported early in the morning and services were restored to all clients by 5.15 p.m

All I can say that the service has been interrupted again today and it seems that Naxxar subscribers are without the cable TV service.
This is at least the 2nd such disservice this year.

I can only say that when this company is mentioned it is always something negative. I am a client of that company that begins with 'G' and when (rarely) I have had some sort of query I phone and they solve.
I have the TV service, telephone - mobile and fixed and, internet. Tell them you are not happy with your custom. Change companies like I did. My 80 year old aunt stopped the service too and they continue phoning her to rejoin. But NO my aunt has gone with the company that rhyms with NO.

Well on the contrary i have always had a good service from Melita internet that is, except perhaps the hello phone, i tend to travel alot and do use a melita pre- paid telephone card, however it doesn't always works as i was told they use a Flex system, that is the only negative setback i find with of melita otherwise no problems.

I have to agree with you Mr Pussy Wagon (great name by the way!)
My Melita internet is superb and the customer service I've received has always been first class.
I do miss Living TV and Comedy Central very very much though. Their "replacement" Melita More could be so much better.
The programmes on More are OK - nothing special mind you - but the scheduling, promotion and channel branding (or lack of it) is poor.

Yes me too i have no problems with Melita service if only one can approach the help desk with a bit of mannerism and respect, i have been with melita for nearly 8 years now since we moved from Holland and believe me i have never ever been let down i have always had good service, ok now and then we had some teething problems but they were all rectify by their engineers, although i only use the internet as we don't need Maltese tv, we use the Sat. and the hello phone (need new software for the pre-paid card by the way as it doesn't always work) so i applied also for Go telephone connections which they charged me 54euros i believe, and a transfer with Melita was absolutly FREE, yet GO charged me for a transfer fee, this is what i call service. OH by the way i know Pussy Wagon its not a he its a she. Personally i will stick to Melita but then again thats my choice and its a free country YES? Conclusion:::: i have likewise no problems with melita.

Not at all resolved - and the least Melita could do is issue a press statement to the effect and not leave us on the supposedly customer care line for over 15 minutes to tell us that they don't know when the service will be re-instated. SHAME.

It's 1730hrs and TV services, at least on my HD box, are still not operating properly - plenty of channels are still not accessible. I fully understand that things do go wrong however I expect that the least Melita can do is keep us posted on how things are progressing and not just stay mum.

I have been, and still am, a Go subscriber (after having been a Melita disgruntled subscriber for years on end) and always have received excellent service by all concerned. I haven't anything to grumble about.

THE MONOPOLIES OF THE MALTESE NATION: customer care and the customers are always left to suffer, mumble, bitch, moan and gripe, and never getting their fair share due back as compensation. It sucks to be a Maltese consumer, period! If folks could band and muster like the Egyptians, Melita directors and senior management might be bothered to afford the courtesy of listening to us, their clients!

What are their subscribers waiting for to throw their set top box out of the window and tell them to remove their service?

And risk a law suit from a passer-by should the thing hit his head??
Just call them and get the service cancelled. Granted it takes months and many calls and you HAVE to document the day you cancel the service as they will do their utmost to keep you on their books but once it's done, you'll feel much better and way less homicidal :)

My experience with Melita's customer service was appalling to say the least, especially when I wanted to remove the service to switch to Go. They made it nigh on impossible to disconnect me, with penalties sprouting out from everywhere, not to mention the fact that you have to wait for a Melita rep to come and pick up the box. They purposely don't turn up for the appointment so you waste a day of leave. They also don't allow you to return the box yourself! In the meantime they keep charging you rent! They did the same to other people I know. Melita in 1 word - - - - EVIL !!! - - - -

@ Fenech MD Compensation? A Melita technician called at my house last week, after resetting and updating, told me that I will receive a charge of 15 Euros for the service! Now, it looks like most channels have disappeared just like the last time, only to inform us that its a technical problem from their end.

Pierre Micallef Grimaud how can you and others be fooled by Melita when you see so many negative remarks about them?

I have been a Melita customer for years now and yes...sometimes there have been problems but it needs to be noted that the last time something like this happened on TV was years ago...I was still using a black box at the time.
As for Melita's customer care... What can a customer care advisor do in a situation like this. Its not their fault, Its not anyone's fault..... computers fail from time to time, humans get sick from time to time too.... It just happens no matter how good any companies continguencies are.

@Joshua Valletta - at least Melita should have the decency to inform its customers and explain accordingly - that is how serious companies treats its clients. I can understand that problems do crop up from time to time......................

Not Hundreds but it seems all subscribers. It seems that the problem is all over Malta. I am one of them and still have the problem. I am most keen in watching the RAI Stations and Mediaset and these are all off transmission. Hope we will get by This evening so at least will be able to watch the RAI up to date and interesting News. CAN MELITA CABLE TELL US AT LEAST WHAT THE TECHNICAL PROBLEM IS??????? as the situation is very worrying. All they say when I phoned was WE HAVE BIG TECHNICAL PROBLEMS. THIS FOR ME IS NO ANSWER> (Whilst at it and maybe Melita will see: Kindly note that some of the station such as Canale Italia has been having problems almost every day an example is Sound Distored and you do not understand a word. )

I say Fenech MD compensation from the Maltese, pull t'other sunshine,no chance the maltese grabs your money with both hands with a grin on their faces, but asking for compensation, well then that doesn't exsit on the islands, still backwards in that respect, might be in europe, but they sure have alot to learn from us more educated and advanced Northerners.

''Melita Cable said today that it is experiencing technical problems''
TODAY??? Melita has been experiencing technical problems for months on end. Stuttering speech/sound comes and goes on many channels, lip sync is also a continued problem. And what about the movie channel. Films stopping have way and restarting from the beginning with not even a ''sorry''. And what about the HD box. The most unfriendly set top box possible which lacks completely most basic facilities and which has a tendency to lock for no apparent reason and then takes 10 minutes to unlock itself. And Melita customer service?? Those out on the streets, facing the customers are doing their best, but the rest. Better not touch that subject.

@ C. Borg
If you were so unhappy with Melita's service how come you subscribed to their latest and most expensive TV service - HD?
I have their HD box but I wouldn't have got it had I not been happy with the basic service...which I am..... unlike when I was with their blessed competition.

Melita is hopeless when it comes to customer service not just on TV. I experienced the worst nightmare last year and am happy not to have a TV rather than get their 'service'. What a disgrace.
If you actually receive the bill at your own house it would already be an improvement. Mine were usually sent to someone else!!

Last year I subscribed to the HD services but recently I have had to "downgrade" to the digital decoder as I was not happy at all with the HD - system breakdown for no apparent reason and very user unfriendly. I think if one switches to GO nothing will improve as we have a duopoly system. what we need is a another service provider perhaps two and all this scenario would change. How about Vodafone and the State TV?

Ah no wonder! For the past weeks I have had intermittent service, practically no service on all local stations, as well as the Nat Geo stations. I was told to reset and update software to no avail. Finally an official statement!
