The House of Representatives yesterday unanimously approved a motion granting 15,000 square metres of land on temporary emphyteusis to Seabank Hotel and Catering Co. Ltd at Mellieħa for 99 years at the rate of €1,500 a year.

The resolution had also been unanimously approved by the National Audit Office Accounts Committee with amendments ­recommended by the Auditor General.

The company had bound itself to invest £20 million over a four-year period to extend the Riu Seabank Hotel and build ancillary facilities, including swimming pools and land­-scaping.

The company would be paying the government €3.4 million.
