Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Foreign Minister Tonio Borg are in Libya for a meeting with Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, the Department of Information said.

No further details were given.

The two last met in November at the end of the third EU Africa summit held in Tripoli.

They had discussed bilateral relations - including a new Friendship and Cooperation Agreement - and Malta’s role as a voice for the Mediterranean.

Outstanding issues between the two countries include illegal migration and oil exploration in the waters between the two countries, on which they both claim rights.
