Gratitude must be shown to Austin Gatt for his well-researched series of articles on the subject of divorce and published in this newspaper.
Being a member of the Nationalist Party for over 50 years, I totally agree with Dr Gatt on the fact that the party should take an official stand against divorce, while letting its members vote according to their conscience.
Every Catholic must listen attentively to his informed conscience and decide. Christ spoke clearly in the Bible about marriage and divorce. The Catholic Church has its teaching. Catholics must be well versed on these points before deciding how to vote. If one is not a convinced Catholic, that is another matter.
