I refer to the programme Bondi+ on divorce of January 24. I wish to ask the producers of the programme if they filtered for repeat “Yes” or “No” messages from the same SMS number. I ask this, more so, as the voting took a strange pattern.
The initial, swift, overwhelming impetus came from the “Yes” vote, which is quite logical, since the people who need a divorce would be more motivated to make their vote count. This seemed to get a reaction from the “No” voters, who, slowly but steadily, reversed the vote and even gained 80 per cent of the vote!
Then, the “Yes” vote obtained a dramatic, swift reversal in the final minutes, finishing with a minimum majority.
If filtering for SMS votes from the same number did not take place, can the producers go through the SMS calls again and give us the result based on one vote per SMS unique number, same as a referendum, where a person can only vote once? Otherwise, the SMS voting is worthless as, with today’s technology, it can be manipulated within seconds by a small number of people and Bondi+ should make sure that this did not happen, to safeguard its professionalism.
