The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses has requested a meeting with Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono amid claims that its members are continuously facing problems over vacation leave.

The union said that while the Finance Minister had allocated a considerable sum of money for nurses’ overtime in Malta, it was being extremely strict when it came to overtime at the Gozo General Hospital.

It said the situation, which had led to a nurse shortage, was unacceptable.
