A drug addict was yesterday remanded in custody after he allegedly broke into a car in Cospicua last Friday and stole a credit card, later using it to withdraw €500.

Vincent Spalding, 37, of Cospicua pleaded not guilty to the charges and to relapsing.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi remanded him in custody after taking into consideration the seriousness of his drug problem.

Legal aid lawyer Simon Micallef Stafrace appeared for Mr Spalding.

Police Inspector Fabian Fleri prosecuted.
