Church in support of unions

The Church's Pastoral Commission this morning issued a paper expressing its support to unions.

"The Catholic Church has constantly agreed and supported the right of workers to unite and set up unions so as to safeguard their rights to a just pay and decent working conditions.

"It is important that one reflects on the church’s position regarding unions in order that one would be able to discern how to strengthen these unions so with a view that these may spread and prevail for the benefit of the workers."

The Church acknowledged that owing to the present economic situation, unions wereexperiencing difficulties in executing their work.

"We believe that these difficulties could be overcome through an undertaking of mutual understanding between the government and the unions.

"There is always room for dialogue between these two parties since surely they both work with a common aim beneficial to the workers," it said.

The whole paper can be read in the pdf link below.

I totally agree that the Church is somehow keeping back from pronouncing itself about the document on Feasts after all the trouble last year. The bosses there should take a decision, i.e, either in favour of a serious document or a status quo, (business as usual). I remember quite well (as our 7 year old son was one of those children taking part in the Corpus Christi procession) members of the Confraternity of the Blessed Sagrament in Qrendi protesting and trying to prevent the procession from going out apart from other booing. Did the Curia bosses take any action then? This is only one example amongs others why it is important that a serious document be published. But please, Curia bosses, don't panic and just take your time. slowly...slowly...slowly..... until one day you will notice that it is too late. I think that your first mistake was to interfere in external feasts decoratiions instead of looking at the discrimination the church is doing where there are two feast - ex. in Qrendi and other villages.
