Edward Aquilina has been appointed scout for the national teams.
Aquilina, who had a distinguished playing career before going on to achieve success as a coach with Valletta and Sliema Wanderers, was confirmed in his new role after talks with Robert Gatt, the new Malta FA technical director, The Times has learnt.
It is understood that Aquilina’s task will be to assess and lay out reports on Malta’s opponents with a view to helping the national coaches prepare their teams better for upcoming internationals at different levels.
Aquilina’s first assignment is to run the rule over Greece in their home friendly against Canada next week.
Greece will be Malta’s next opponents in the Euro Championship 2012 qualifiers.
