A father and son were remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to conspiring to import and trafficking in about 400 grams of cocaine.

Anthony Tanti, 64, and his 35-year-old son Kevin, who appeared before Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera, were arrested by the police at their St Julians residence on Monday after packets of cocaine, addressed to them, were intercepted in the US and the UK.

They pleaded not guilty to conspiring to import and deal in the drug and of relapsing.

The son denied possessing cocaine in circumstances which denote it was not for his exclusive use. He also pleaded not guilty to simple possession of cannabis, heroin and cocaine. Lawyers Steve Tonna Lowell and Gianluca Caruana Curran were defence counsel.
