Valerie Borg, in her letter The Day The Crowd Roared For The Labour Leader (January 21), wrote this about the Labour event in Valletta: “I don’t think I will ever be able to forget those throngs of people who entered my home town ready for a protest march against diesel, gas and petrol prices which the government of the day has plans to raise further…”

I would like to point out that at no stage of his speech did Labour Party leader Joseph Muscat say he would reduce diesel, gas and petrol prices on a return to office, well knowing he might not be in a position to do so due to the international situation.
