Why has divorce got to become a party political issue? Surely, the citizens of this little island, irrespective of their party colour, are the ones who would benefit from Malta moving into present times out of the Dark Ages by allowing people whose marriage has failed to re-marry, hence moving on with their lives?

Some of the recent statements that were made by eminent public persons are giving me very bad vibes of the past.

I think the Church is causing a very turbulent undercurrent by using politically motivated people to achieve its ends, which are very obvious: No divorce.

I hate to say it but, ultimately, is “mortal sin” going to be dished out to anyone who votes for divorce? I really do hope I am wrong in thinking about this but only time will tell.

No political party should take a stand for or against as it is the individual members of Parliament and we the voters who must decide. I would feel cheated if any party I voted for should take a stance for or against divorce.
